Guided group Swim

Cornwall
swim - Up to 7 people

Description

Our guided group swims are designed to cater for those swimmers wanting to explore beyond the confines of the bays and experience swimming sections of otherwise inaccessible coastline with other like-minded swimmers.

During the swim you can expect to cover between 1.5 – 2 km (please see physical requirements below for ability level), swum at the pace of the slowest swimmer and with regular breaks to re-group, chat and take in the stunning scenery.

All our guided swims begin with a discussion about conditions, safety and route options, followed by a short acclimatisation, a warm-up lap and then we’ll be on our way. You will be led by a qualified open water swim coach and lifeguard who will swim or paddle alongside you, providing support, encouragement, navigation and will carry anything you may need during the swim. Allow two hours for the session, including 30 minutes for changing and briefing.

We aim to run swims from our base at Port Gaverne if conditions allow. Should weather or sea state prevent us swimming from Port Gaverne, we have a number of other stunning venues (Daymer Bay, New Polzeath, Lundy Bay & Port Quin) available to us within 10 mins which we may also use. We will contact you at least 24 hours in advance to confirm the venue. Please make it known to us if you do not have transport.

What to bring

For our guided group swims it is compulsory that all swimmers wear:

  1. A brightly coloured swim hat.
  2. goggles.
  3. Wetsuit (ideally swim specific). Swimming without a wetsuit can be catered for on our 1:1/private sessions if experienced in doing so.

If you do not have some of the required kit then no need to miss out. We have a stock of wetsuits and goggles which can be supplied and CST branded swim hats to purchase.

It is also recommended (but not compulsory) that you swim with a tow float so please bring this with you if you have one. If you are booking during the early or late season then any extra layers you have would also be recommended, such as neoprene hats, gloves and boots.

Physical requirements

  1. Can swim 400m front crawl unaided < 12 mins.
  2. Some experience of swimming in open water (lake, river, sea or other).
  3. Can walk up to 1 mile on uneven terrain (some venues are a little more remote and require a short walk down to the sea).
