Ecoasteering

Cornwall
coasteer - Up to 12 people

Description

Join us to learn about the fascinating wildlife that lives along our rocky shorelines on one of our guided Ecoasteering sessions, combining the thrill of coasteering with marine biology. We’ll traverse a stretch of the Cornish coast, swimming between rocky outcrops where we’ll discover some of the fascinating organisms that call this environment home.

Developed with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust & Polzeath Marine Center, these sessions place an emphasis on finding and learning about marine wildlife and following the seashore code. Our venue at Port Gaverne is located on a National Trust property in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and hosts a range of marine flora and fauna from starfish to seals and almost everything in between.

Ecoasteering sessions typically last for around three hours, two hours of which are spent in the water or on the rocks.

All necessary equipment is provided, including a warm 5mm wetsuit, thick-soled wetsuit boots, a buoyancy aid and a helmet. Participants must be aged 10 or over and competent swimmers (i.e. able to swim 50 meters in a pool unaided).

Cornish Rock Tors are one of the South West’s premier coasteering providers. Our team of experienced coasteering guides are all Beach Lifeguards, as well as completing our in-house, location specific training. Furthermore, all of our guides are passionate about the local marine environment and have been trained to identify all of the local species found on our rocky shore as well as having a good knowledge of local geology and ocean science. Cornish Rock Tors is a member of the NCC (National Coasteering Charter) and is licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service adhering to all of their safety guidelines. Ecoasteering sessions adhere strictly to the seashore code.
