  • Description

3 km extended swim from Port Gaverne to Port Isaac.

Swimming out from our HQ at Port Gaverne we turn left at the mouth, past the entrance to Port Isaac and on towards Varley head and the golden sands beneath it. On arrival at the secluded beach we'll come ashore for a moment before we turn and head for home. Hugging the coast on the return journey, we'll swim over the boulder fields and popular seal hangout of Pinehaven, explore caves if calm, before rounding Lobber point and making our way between the harbour walls and onto the platt of Port Isaac. From here it's a short 1 km walk over the headland and back to Port Gaverne where a hot drink awaits.

This can be a tough swim so please read the physical requirements carefully.

What are the swim specials about?

Our Swim specials are designed to cater for those swimmers wanting to explore beyond the confines of the bays and experience swimming sections of otherwise inaccessible coastline with other like-minded swimmers. We seek to provide an opportunity for swimmers to complete point A to point B swims or iconic loops in the North Cornwall area.

    Etiquette

This is very much a social swim, nobody gets left behind and we'll take regular breaks to re-group, chat and take in the stunning scenery. Sea swimming can be more taxing than it's flat water cousins so ensure that you are confident of completing the distance before signing up.

    Safety

All of our guided swims will begin with a discussion about conditions, safety and route options. Followed by a short acclimatization, and then we'll be on our way. You will be led by a qualified open water coach(es) and lifeguard(s) who will paddle alongside you, providing support, encouragement, navigation an will carry anything you may need during the swim.

    Not for you?

If this sounds like too much or too little, or perhaps you want to swim supported for a particular distance /time or pace, then perhaps you should consider booking a private/1:1 session with us - see private guided swim adventure for more details.
