  • Description
    1. Aimed at those with prior paddling experience who are transitioning from sit on top kayaking to closed cockpit sea kayaks or already have experience in closed cockpit boats.


    1. Learn how to manoeuvre your sea kayak and negotiate rock gardens, gullies and caves.


    1. Learn how to self rescue and become comfortable with capsizing.


    1. 3 hours taking part in the activity.


    1. Look out for wildlife such as Dolphins, Seals, Guillemots, Razorbills and more.


    1. Discover secret coves, unspoilt sandy beaches, venture into otherwise inaccessible caves.


    1. Includes the use of all necessary equipment, including a warm wetsuit, thick-soled wetsuit boots, a buoyancy aid and a helmet as well as kayak and paddle. 


    1. Ben Hugo and Glen are qualified BC sea kayak leaders and have lots of experience paddling at sea.


    If you have specific needs or are brand new to sea kayaking and want to learn how to paddle a closed cockpit and understand the environment then you may want to consider a 1:1 session. Please get in touch via email to request this session.


    Requirements

    Kayaking is a physical activity!


    Ensure that all participants:


    1. Can swim at least 25mtrs unaided.
    2. Are comfortable wearing restrictive water sports equipment.
    3. Feel confident they can tolerate up to 3 hours of physical exertion.
    4. Do not have any physical or mental conditions which will significantly affect their balance, vision or coordination.
    5. Weight limit - 120kg max per kayak.

    What to bring

    Bring along any personal paddling equipment that you might already own.


    Please note - we don’t have any indoor changing facilities, therefore you will be getting changed on the beach or grass, so please bring a changing robe or large towel.


    Itinerary
    1. Arrive at HQ on time.
    2. Meet your guide.
    3. Get fitted and changed into necessary equipment (provided).
    4. You can leave bags/clothes with us in our lock-up.
    5. Briefing on activity, route and conditions at waters edge.
    6. Go KAYAKING!!
    7. Back to the beach.
    8. Get changed into warm/dry clothes.
    9. Refuel - We sell hot drinks, ice cream and snacks at our HQ.
