This scenic and sociable paddle is a firm favourite. Hit the River Thames at twilight and paddle around Eel Pie Island, stopping for a mid-point pint at The White Swan, a charming riverside pub in Twickenham. Suitable for all abilities, this easy-going paddle passes through idyllic Surrey countryside, with a pit stop at a traditional 17th Century pub where the tide laps the garden tables. Bask in the sunny garden or hunker by the log fire, before drifting back downstream to your start point at River Lane.
Most people wear board shorts / swimming shorts, running tights or leggings and a t-shirt and bring layers and a waterproof jacket in case it is cooler or raining. You must have footwear with you that you don’t mind getting wet. Wetsuit shoes are ideal, but trainers also work. We provide a PFD (personal floatation device) for each of you.
It is a good idea to bring a bottle of drinking water to take with you as well as some money (you may well stop at a river side pub or cafe). Spare clothes and a towel are also recommended as is a change of footwear because your feet are very likely to get wet.
Starting with a briefing in the Meadow, you'll then take to the water to explore this beautiful stretch of the River Thames. After stopping a a charming riverside pub midway you'll return to River Lane.
