Sunset SUP x

sup - Up to 6 people

Slow down and see the city in a different light. Explore a scenic stretch of the River Thames, brush through nature and discover the wild side of the waterways in the golden light of dawn or dusk.

Our twilight stand up paddleboarding trips are a sublime way to wind down before drifting back downstream to your start point and an optional pint at a riverside pub to finish.

Whether you’ve only just completed a SUP Wise Lesson or are a seasoned pro, this easy-going, circular trip is suitable for you. Our friendly instructors will provide all the kit and take you through the basics before you cast away on your adventure.

Head torches or bike lights are useful for the sunset SUP sessions.

What to bring

We encourage you to wear high visibility clothing for paddling at this time of day.

It is a good idea to bring a re-useable bottle of drinking water to take with you.

Spare clothes and a towel are also recommended as is a change of footwear because your feet are very likely to get wet. These can be left in our vehicle at your own risk.

Most people wear board shorts, swimming shorts, running tights or leggings and a t-shirt. We have long sleeved rash vests for you to wear and provide a PFD (personal floatation device) for each of you.

You must have footwear with you that you don’t mind getting wet. Flip flops are great and wetsuit shoes can also work.

If it is particularly sunny, it is recommended that you wear sun-cream and a hat. Sunglasses are also good. Be aware that can they sink quickly... so do not bring your best pair.

Please note that there are no toilets or changing facilities at Friars Lane Car Park, but there are pubs and cafes near by.

You are going to be paddling in beautifully stable stand up paddle boards so it is unlikely that you will end up in the water....although it can happen!

We provide PFD's (personal floatation devices) that will keep you buoyant in the water if you do end up in it. We can then help you back onto stand up paddle board.

If you are a weak or non swimmer, please do let your instructor know so that they are aware of it.

You will start the session paddling on your knees before transitioning to standing, so you will need a degree of flexibility to do this.

The session starts with a briefing and re-introduction to paddling before taking to the water for this delightful paddle.

Aiming for a riverside pub we will stop for a quick drink before drifting back Richmond in the still of the night!
