Eel Pie Island Kayak Adventure - Guided

kayak - Up to 8 people

This scenic and sociable 2.5 hour Guided Adventure, is a firm favourite and is suitable for all. Particularly for people who simply cannot persuade friends or family to join them on the water, but really want to paddle!

Hit the River Thames and paddle around Eel Pie Island, stopping for a mid-point BYO pint and snack at the riverside.

Suitable for all abilities, this easy-going paddle passes through idyllic Surrey countryside as you ‘ride with the tide’.

With a pit stop along the way, you’ll spend some time enjoying conversations with new friends, and old, before drifting back downstream to your start point at River Lane.

Please note that all paddlers under 18 years of age must be accompanied on the water with a parent or guardian.

What to bring

It is a good idea to bring a re-useable bottle of drinking water to take with you along with some snack and drinks.

Spare clothes and a towel are also recommended as is a change of footwear because your feet are very likely to get wet. These can be left in our vehicle at your own risk.

Most people wear board shorts, swimming shorts, running tights or leggings and a t-shirt. We have long sleeved rash vests for you to wear and provide a PFD (personal floatation device) for each of you.

You must have footwear with you that you don’t mind getting wet. Flip flops are great and wetsuit shoes can also work.

If it is particularly sunny, it is recommended that you wear sun-cream and a hat. Sunglasses are also good. Be aware that can they sink quickly... so do not bring your best pair.

Please note that there are no toilets or changing facilities at River Lane, but there is woodland at River Lane that some people choose to change in.

The nearest toilet is at the Petersham Nurseries if they are open.

The 2.5 hour Ride with the Tide Kayak Adventure is suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.

You will be paddling for approximately an hour at a time with short stops along the way.

You are going to be paddling in beautifully stable touring kayaks so it is unlikely that you will end up in the water....although it can happen!

We provide PFD's (personal floatation devices) that will keep you buoyant in the water if you do end up in it. We can then help you back onto stand up paddle board.

If you are a weak or non swimmer, please do let your instructor know so that they are aware of it.
