2 hour Skills Technique Clinic with Oxford SUP Club
Build confidence and competence in self and assisted rescue techniques with our awesome Senior Instructor Team.
A 2 hour stand up paddle clinic on land and on the water focussed on skills and techniques for self-rescue and helping yourself and others get safely back onto your board.
This clinic is aimed at regular Club paddlers or all level paddlers from novice to intermediate who have a love of this sport and want to build confidence getting back onto a board after falling into deep water.
Spaces are limited to just 8 people per clinic.
Price: £55 per person - Club Members £35 per person
The best way to stay safe is to not be in an unsafe situation at all, but life isn't like that. Careful planning and constant assessment of your surroundings will minimise your chances of being in the water, but at some point you will fall in.
Any of us can get caught out, and it is important to understand what can happen. You may never have fallen in, but don't let falling become something you fear.
There is no better time to practice (under supervision) than in the summer months. Don't waste your time practising in a pool. It is not representative of reality.
Get out of your depth (literally) and practice as you intend to paddle.
You may have demonstrated it successfully on your beginner’s course but any changes you have made since then (boards, clothing, PFD etc.) could have changed your ability to get on a board.
Practice – Practice – Practice, and the more representative the paddling conditions, the better.
This course will teach you a variety of methods to get safely back onto your board in deep water, along with techniques to help others back onto a board. You will get wet!
During the warmer months of summer you can wear shorts & t-shirts.
Hopefully you'll have your own board to bring with you on the day. Likewise if you can please bring your own wetsuit or PFD.
We can provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids if you need them.
If you need to hire a board there are boards available to hire at £10 per session.
