Level Up Your Summer: Teen River Adventure with GoPaddle.ie
Trade the screen for a paddle!
This isn't your average summer camp, it’s a four-day immersion into the world of kayaking. Whether you’re looking to master the water or just want an epic week outdoors, our Teen Camp delivers a mix of high-energy skill sessions and social river vibes.
Why it’s a vibe:
The Essentials:
Qualified Staff: All instructors are Canoeing Ireland certified, Garda Vetted, and Safeguarding trained.
Parent Note: Save €10 per person with our Family Discount when booking multiple household members!
Booking is simple: Parents, book in your name, then "invite" your teen via the link provided to complete their registration and consent forms.
Suitable for young people age 13 - 17 years.
Note on Water Confidence: Safety first! Buoyancy aids are mandatory and worn at all times. To get the most out of this river adventure, participants should be comfortable in the water. No previous kayaking experience is required, but "water-confidence" is key to a great week!
For the Water: Swimming togs, shorts, or a T-shirt to wear comfortably under the wetsuit we provide.
Footwear: A pair of old runners that you don't mind getting wet and muddy. (Please: No flip-flops, crocs, or wellies—they don't stay on in the water!)
The "After-Paddle" Kit: A large towel and a full set of warm, dry clothes (including socks and a cozy hoodie) for a comfortable journey home.
Fuel: A drink and a substantial snack for our mid-morning break.
Medication: Please bring any relevant personal medication (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens) and let your instructor know where it is stored in your bag.
Sun Protection: Even on overcast days, the river reflection is strong. Please apply SPF before arrival!
The Daily Flow
09:30 | Briefing & Technical Setup
We start with a professional intro to safety equipment and technical gear. Teens learn how to correctly adjust their own kit—essential knowledge for any future paddler.
10:00 | On-Water Session: Skills and Concepts
We focus on paddle strokes, boat control, and building confidence on the river through challenges and drills.
11:00 | The Social Break
Bank-side re-fueling. A chance to hang out, grab a snack, and talk through the morning's progress.
11:15 | On-Water Session: Rescue & Exploration
The "business end" of the day. We cover self-rescue, peer-rescue (helping a friend back in), and exploring the flora and fauna around Edermine Bridge.
12:15 | River Cool Down
Ten minutes of free time to jump in, swim and wind down after a high-energy session.
12:30 | Debrief & Gear Down Tidy up, return the gear, and head home ready for day two!

An amazing experience with Sue as usual. She pushes your boundaries a lot but somehow makes you feel as if you are in your comfort zone by gradually moving towards bigger challenges. Will definitely be booking again

Had such a great experience with GoPaddle. Everything is explained so great for novices. A really nice team in charge. Highly recommend spending a morning on the Slaney with them.
