What Can you expect from the trip ?

We will be exploring Kanchanburi and paddling two beautiful rivers. The River Noi and the river Kwai Yai which is well known for the famous bridge we will paddle under!

This trip is fully supported by an amazing team, you will be downriver paddling with incredible lush scenery spotting wildlife including elephants bathing in the river, there will be waterfalls and gorge walks and cultural tours and maybe even a bike tour. Your luggage will be moved for you each day so will be waiting at the next resort in the evening for you.

We will be staying in beautiful Spa Hotels and Riverside resorts eating amazing Thai Food which is all included for you.

From the moment you arrive everything will be taken care of for you making this as effortless as is possible.

Your trip includes:-

  1. Return coach transfers from Bangkok (we will arrange a date and time and place for everyone to meet in case you want to fly out early or anything).
  2. All accommodation in beautiful spa resorts and riverside locations.
  3. All transport and luggage transfers
  4. Excursions and sightseeing
  5. Full equipment hire of Boards and Paddles and Buoyancy aids etc.
  6. Safety Support and Guiding from amazing English speaking guides.


Flights will be your responsibility to organise as some may go early and and some stay afterwards but once the places are filled we will have a what's app group to share info and anything else between us.

This trip is open to anyone to book its not specifically just for Black Crow Community so do let friends know or groups etc. and i do expect the places to go very quickly as they do with most of my trips.

To book and confirm your place you must complete all forms here and pay the minimal payment of £10 but then the full deposit of another £240 must be paid using the bank details provided at the same time you book here , without the full deposit your place is not booked. Due to the booking in advance of hotels etc the initial deposit is not refundable. (apologies for doing it this way but if we charge the full deposit here the charges will add an extra £30 to your booking so we dont want that ;-)

You can pay in full if you wish otherwise we will have a payment plan option where after the deposit the next payment of approx £350 would be due around July this needs to be confirmed then the final payment Would need to be paid anytime before the End of November.

What to bring

Kit lists etc. will be given at another time but basic paddling clothes and outdoors clothes etc.

Itinerary

Day 1

Leave BKK at 0730. Pick up point TBC

10:00 Arrive just South of Erawan National Park

Lake paddle: skills check, games and 2.5 hour paddle

12:30 Lunch at the magnificent Lakeview Café which you will paddle into.

13:45 Portage around the Tha Thung Na Hydro-electric Dam

14:15 Start Afternoon paddle in a wilderness environment with lots of wild-life

16:45 Portage to Mida Resort . Note, we will paddle past Mida, so if anyone is feeling tired, they can get off here at about the halfway point of the paddle.

17:15 Check in, swim and dinner at Mida

Day 2

08:00 After breakfast, check out and transfer to the famous and spectacular Erawan falls for gorge walking and swimming in the pools of the wonderful falls. This is a National Park with 7 levels of falls and fish that nibble your feet in cooling pools for swimming and bathing.

Alternatively, spend the morning at Elephants World (+20 pounds)

Lunch location TBC

Transfer to where we exited the river on day 1.

13:30 Start the paddle downriver.

17:00 Exit the river close to the Royal River Kwai Resort (check in)

Dinner riverside

Day 3

08:30 Paddle down to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, made famous by the historically inaccurate movie of the same name.

Lunch location TBC (probably trying the famous Kao Soi dish here)

13:00 Transfer and excursion to the famous WW2 PoW Cemetery with expat historical researcher talk followed by a visit to the Thai-Burma Railway Museum and a walk across the Bridge

Alternate excursion to a couple of very interesting temples such as Wat Tham Sua and Wat Tham Khao Pun.

17:00 Transfer to dinner location . Early transfer back to the Royal River Kwai Resort at 19:00 or later transfer available at 23:00 for anyone who wants to enjoy the nightlife

Day 4

08:00 After breakfast, cycling scavenger hunt, check out and transfer to Thong Pha Phum, just South of the Vajiralongkorn Dam

(We can visit the dam before starting our paddle South)

12:00 Lunch our team will make you lunch at a nice spot on the river

14:00 Continue the paddle through a clean and unspoiled beautiful environment, probably with some Class 1+ rapids along the way (nothing to be of concern)

16:00 – 17:00 Exit and possible short transfer to Sweet Garden River Kwai Resort (TBC)

18:00 Dinner at resort New Year Celebrations in the resort)

Day 5

08:00 after breakfast, check out and continue the journey downriver

We will likely stop at a raft restaurant, somewhere on the river, for lunch dependent on ease of getting off safely, so during the morning, we will discuss and practice procedures for coming alongside safely and managing the risk.

On this section, we paddle through the famous Sai Yok National Park, pausing to enjoy numerous waterfalls (3 – 7 dependent on rainfall). Here the scenery changes into the steep walls of a canyon and we will begin to see the signs parts of the infamous Death Railway

16:00 Exit at Wat Mae Nam Noi and a short transfer to Wang Nokkeow Park View Resort for check in.

17:00 Dinner at resort

Day 6

08:00 After breakfast, transfer to Hellfire Pass Interpretative Centre then onto the exit point of the previous day.

Paddle down river stopping for lunch at a raft resort with possible additional excursion to Lawa Cave.

Finish time today is flexible (maybe people are pretty tired and want to enjoy the last night at River Kwai Resotel.

Day 7 (20km+)

08:00 following breakfast, transfer to the finish point from the previous day and you will likely be paddling a unique stretch of river passing through a valley with mountains all around you. The plan will be to paddle as far as the group wants to before transit to lunch at a nice local restaurant (H2 River Café or similar), to say ‘Farewell’. Leave H2 at 1330 to arrive at BKK at 1600

After lunch transfer to Bangkok
