Description
This is an area of ancient history and myth. West Wales is where the valleys begin to widen and the landscape starts to lend itself to farming more than industry. This is the area of South Wales where you are more likely to hear the Welsh language used in the street as a first language.
Some of the stones that were used in the construction of Stonehenge were quarried from the Preseli Hills in North Pembrokeshire while both Wales’ Patron Saint, St. David, and the world’s most famous Wizard, Merlin, hail from the region. The area is dotted with quaint old towns and picturesque villages which seem untouched by time. The South West is the home of Pembrokeshire coast national park, and is an area renowned for the beauty of its beaches and coastline. For the lovers of castles there many to discover with Carreg Cennen, Pembroke and Kidwelly being three of the most impressive.
The ‘Wild West’ tour covers a bigger area than the other tours so be aware that the number of places may be limited if you have a specific destination you simply must go and visit. If for example you want to visit Britain’s smallest city St. Davids then this would take close to 2 hours from Swansea and around two and a half from Cardiff. This would be not be a problem for ourselves but just be aware that the number of other attractions visited would then be limited due to time constraints.
An example of a tour could be visit to the wonderfully preserved Norman Castle at Kidwelly, followed by a stop off at Dylan Thomas’ former home at Laugharne followed by lunch in the beautiful medieval port of Tenby. Also marvel at the size of Pembroke’s Norman Castle, the home and birth place of Henry the 7th. This tour is easily done in one day, a tour for memories, information and fantastic selfie opportunities.
