Description

*If the date below is not showing up green on my booking calendar and you would like this day please contact me.*

Only on your first booking a questionnaire & disclaimer will need to be completed and signed. If there are any amendments from previous sessions Sandy Toed Sea Swimmers must be notified. If you are including additional swimmers to your booking, please 'invite' them via your confirmation email, this will send them the relevant forms to be completed beforehand.

These long distance swimming sessions are for swimmers who are training for an event of 4km+ and have swum in open water before. They must be able to swim front crawl confidently and continuously in a pool for at least 2km.

Please allow enough time to do your own warm-up and cool down before and after your session.

All sessions except on Sundays & Mondays will be held at The Boathouse, Felpham unless location and time has to be changed due to circumstances out of my control - I will notify you if this is this case. Sessions on Sundays and Mondays will be at Bognor East.

Requirements

  1. Must be able to swim 2Km+ front crawl confidently and continuously in a swimming pool and have swum in open water before.
  2. Be 18 years of age or over.
  3. Be in good health.
  4. A medical questionnaire must be completed and disclaimer signed before your session starts.

What to bring

Must haves:

  1. Brightly coloured swimming hat, tow float (borrowed from me), goggles & towel.
  2. Plenty of dry layers of clothing, a woolly hat, hot drink, and snack for after.

Optional:

  1. Wet suit, ear plugs and swimming socks/shoes and gloves.
  2. A rubber backed bath mat is also useful to stand on whilst getting changed.
  3. Dry bag tow floats are a fantastic way to keep keys and phones safe and dry.
  4. Changing robe.

Itinerary

  1. Safety briefing/debrief at end.
  2. Before you enter the water I will give you tips to assist you with your distance swim to make your swimming more efficient, such as sighting and stroke technique.
  3. If you are planning or training for an event, these sessions can also assist you with the open water skills needed, for example, starts, entries, sighting, drafting, and buoy turns.
