Our beginner lessons are perfect for those who are new to kayaking. Our qualified instructor led sessions on the beautiful Hamble River will see you learning to paddle with confidence.
Your 1.5 hour session is split into two defined sections. During the first part of your session you will develop an understanding of the equipment; learn how to turn as well as paddle in a straight line and master how to recover yourself should you fall off the kayak. The remainder of the session is your free time to paddle and put your new skills to use.
Our beginner kayak lessons have a teaching ratio of one instructor to five paddlers ensuring we are able to help you develop over the duration of the session. If you would like a one on one lesson with one of our instructors then take a look at our private kayaking lessons.
Check out our FAQ's page for any additional information.
Please arrive 20 minutes before your booked session time as this will allow you to, sign in, get changed.
Your instructor will meet you and the rest of the group and get you ready to go on the water with a buoyancy aid, paddle, kayak and a safety brief.
Your instructor will then help the group get on the water, once on they will go though a range of techniques to get you kayaking.
For the second half of the session you are free to explore with your new skills, just ask thee instructor if you need any more hints and tips.
As your session end your instructor will call you in towards The Paddle Centre to return your equipment, sign in and grab a coffee or why not an ice cream.
