Introduction to Coastal Paddling Course- Two Tree Island
This certificated skill and knowledge focused BSUPA 'Ready to Tour' 3 hour course is to introduce paddlers on how to plan tours & explore on your board, covering navigation and paddling different environments.
Having completed this course you should be ready to plan your own adventures safely.
For this course we would expect that you have 3/4 hours experience on a board, are able to stand and paddle for 90 minutes.
If you are bring your own board please be pumped and ready for the start time, this course is planned to fit with a tidal estuary.
If you are unsure on your experience for this course please call us and we are happy to run through details and give you advice on the course and suitability
As an advanced course we would imagine you have your own paddle board & paddle, (if you do not have board/paddle please contact us) , a personal buoyancy aid/PDF (if you do have one please notify us & we can organise one)
You will need to bring and use a small dry bag with an energy snack, water, a phone (fully charged) in a waterproof case, a notepad + pen.

Please note that we operate a minimum student booking total per session for the session to be able to run. If a class does not meet this requirement we reschedule at no cost to the customer.
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the enjoyment of touring and exploring but offer more than an experience.
The course is ‘skill and knowledge focused’ aiming to give students a safe way of getting more time on the water.
By the end of this course paddlers should be able to:
Understand the different locations to paddle, their restrictions and challenges
Have knowledge of different touring disciplines and how to get involved
Be able to select the best touring equipment for themselves
Paddle and we will look at how to improve a more efficient paddle stroke
Use a variety of strokes to maintain tracking and maneuverability on the water.
Navigate obstacles and third parties afloat taking into account, flow, weather and any other elements.
Plan a trip taking into account weather, flow, tide, access, 3rd parties, exit options, have understanding of personal equipment you might take with you when touring.
Ultimately that you learn how to plan, complete and experience touring confidently.
