    Description

Join us on this walking tour away from the busy city center and discover Gaudí parallels in Amsterdam.

The Spaarndam neighborhood had been a social housing project in the 1910s and was built in the style of the Amsterdam School that picked up socialist ideas just like the famous Barcelona architect Gaudí did in his early years.

What does the Spanish architect Gaudí have in common with the Amsterdam School? Both Gaudí and Dutch architects of the Amsterdam School paid attention to natural forms, they varied and played with them. Both were also in favour of the deployment of craftsmen and specialists. Especially in young years Gaudí was influenced by socialist ideas – for example when designing workers houses in Mataró, North of Barcelona.

This tour is full of architecture and social housing history.
