Sea temperatures in Plymouth vary significantly across the year, shaping the experience and preparation required. Winter (January–March) typically sees temperatures around 8–10°C, requiring full cold-water precautions and shorter, controlled sessions. Spring (April–June) gradually warms to 10–14°C, allowing swimmers to build confidence and duration. Summer (July–September) offers the most comfortable conditions at 15–18°C, ideal for longer swims and technique work. Through autumn (October–December), temperatures drop from around 16°C back towards 10°C, providing an opportunity to extend the season while gradually reintroducing cold-water adaptation. Sessions are adapted year-round to ensure safe, effective, and enjoyable swimming.
While support is provided in the water, swimmers are responsible for warming up after the session. Please bring warm clothing and ensure you wrap up promptly after exiting the water.
We do not take responsibility for arrival or departure. Please remain mindful of others on land and avoid unnecessary crowding.
