Join us on the Paddle Richmond New Year's Day paddle - 11am start
Confident paddleboarders and club members only. Kayakers welcome too, but not suitable for complete beginners
£5 for our SUP Club Members
£25 if you have your own board, paddle, buoyancy aid
£35 using our equipment
Meet at around 10:30 at Richmond Bridge for a nibble, coffee or Bloody Mary - or a Virgin Mary!
We'll then head off upriver with the flood tide at around 11:00, with a possible stop at The White Swan for a bit of hair of the dog.
After a quick stop and a chat, we'll catch the tide back to base!
Before taking part, please make Paddle Richmond staff aware of any significant medical condition/disability that may affect your ability to participate, or to understand instructions. If you have any doubts regarding fitness to participate, please contact Paddle Richmond to discuss your concerns in advance, or seek medical advice from a doctor.
We advise that you do not participate in paddleboarding if you are pregnant. If you do so, it is at your own risk.
Please arrive wearing the clothes you intend to paddle in as we have only rudimentary changing facilities.
Dress warm - fleece, thermals, hat and gloves! If you have a wetsuit or drysuit, we suggest you wear it.... we have a few wetsuits available, if you'd like one please add it to your booking and arrive 10-15 minutes early.
Remember your Santa hat, reindeer antlers or full Santa outfit!
Also, please bring extra layers, a towel and a change of clothes just in case you take a dip.
We have a safe lockable storage space for your bags and valuables.
You may also want to bring a small dry bag for spare waterproof/warm clothing, money, any medications you may need and your phone in a waterproof pouch.
Buoyancy aids are provided and are compulsory on all our sessions.
We will provide a brief safety briefing on the riverbank near Richmond Bridge before we start.
We will then head out onto the river, upstream towards Eel Pie Island and Teddington. We will return to our launch point at the end of the session.
*The distance actually covered will depend on wind and tide conditions on the day.
