Description
This is our regular evening paddle from The Barmy Arms, Embankment, Twickenham.
You will need your own board, buoyancy aid and either Quick Release Leash Belt or your leash must be attached to your Buoyancy Aid. Plus since this is an evening paddle, 2 White Lights to be worn front and back. Finally, a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch.
The Tideway as the river is called here can have strong currents and Leashes must not be worn on you ankle or leg. This is just in case you get "hung up" and need to release yourself.
Please read the Tideway Code - https://boatingonthethames.co.uk/the-tideway-code-boating-on-the-thames/
Especially the information on Paddle Boarding and lights.
We will decide where we shall go depending on the make up of the group.
Members are free, the fee for non-members is a booking fee only. It helps pay for the booking platform.
Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel. A dry bag would also be a good idea as well and waterproof footwear. Finally water and a snack.
Please Note - This is a Peer Paddle and you are responsible for your own safety on all club paddles and must self assess if you are competent to take part, including the ability to Self Rescue. You must be a confident paddle boarder to come on the Tideway Sessions and wear a buoyancy aid and belt quick release leash. Dittons Paddle Boarding only set the meeting time and place and take no responsibility for your safety.
Après Paddle
We will be heading back to The Barmy Arms for drinks and snacks for those who want to stay.
Parking
There is lots of parking on the Embankment. Please use the Launch Point What3Words link below to navigate to the Embankment.

Toilets and Changing
The Barmy Arms toilets are accessible through the pub. It would make them happy if you bought a beverage, by the way of a thank you.
What to bring
You will need your own board, buoyancy aid and either Quick Release Leash Belt or your leash must be attached to your Buoyancy Aid. Plus since this is an evening paddle, 2 White Lights to be worn front and back. Finally, a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch.
No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt/sweatshirt), with old sandals or trainers you don't mind getting wet. Or you can get cheap neoprene wet shoes from most large supermarkets.
In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory.
Always bring a towel and a change of clothes just in case you go in during the paddle boarding session.
