Thames Skills & Knowledge 1 Trip

Description

Join us on a one way TSK 1 trip from Cremorne Gardens in Chelsea and finishing at Kew Bridge. This trip is around 12.5km and will take around 2.5hrs including a short stop on the way. We will be paddling with the start of the incoming flood tide through Wandsworth, Putney, Hammersmith, Barnes, and on to Kew Bridge.

To join this trip you must have either completed the Thames Skills & Knowledge 1 course with us or have suitable experience on the fully Tidal section of the Thames - between Richmond Lock and Putney Bridge.

Boards provided will be a minimum of 12'6 in length so please get in touch before booking with own equipment if your board is shorter than 12'

Requirements

You must be an experienced paddler and completed the Thames Skills & Knowledge (TSK 1) Theory and Practical and/or have good previous experience on the tidal section of the Thames (Between Teddington Lock and Putney Bridge).

These trips are for experienced TSK 1 paddlers. These are guided trips so you must have suitable experience to to paddle on the Tideway without guidance. You will be accompanied by experienced paddlers including a qualified coach and TSK 2 paddler for safety at all times.

What to bring

Please wear suitable paddling attire based on the weather. We tend to wear thermals and wetsuits in the winter.

Footwear should be watersports shoes - ideally neoprene. Barefoot is not allowed as we will be walking along the foreshore to start and finish.

Bring a dry bag and travel light as you will not be able to arrange to go back to the start point at the end of the session so we will be taking all or belongings with us on the boards. Leashes are not mandatory on these trips as we will be paddling as a group. Coaches will be wearing Quick release leashes, leg leashes are not permitted on the tidal Thames.

Itinerary

We will start at Cremorne Riverside

Once we have kitted up we will head out on the water just after Low tide using the start of the Flood tide to take us down through Wandsworth, Putney, Hammersmith and Barnes/Chiswick.

This is a one way trip so we will be finishing at our base in Kew Bridge where there will be shower and changing facilities.
