    What is the Discover Award?

The Discover Award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, as you become a more skilled and independent paddler. Through this award you will learn how to choose and effectively use equipment, whilst developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling.

    Who is it for?

Anyone of any age who want to develop their skills on the water. You don’t need any previous experience to take your Discover Award, just the desire for fun and learning! You can take the award from any craft, from kayaks, canoes or SUPs.

Why should I do the Discover Award?

If you want to develop your skills from your Start Award, or feel like you need to expand your basic paddling knowledge further, this is the award you need. The award covers topics such as:

    1. Encouraging independent decision making on different bodies of water (moving river, canal, estuary, harbour), covering safety and weather aspects too
    2. Preparing for self-guided adventures
    3. Equipment you will need for a variety of paddle trips
    4. Further developing your canoe, kayak or SUP paddling and rescue skills

If you would like an E-Certificate please select the option within the 'add-on' section! there is an additional fee of £6.60.

Please note the session duration has allocated time for changing in and out of your water kit (wetsuit/Buoyancy aid), allowing roughly 20 minutes either side for this to happen. This session is 2 hours on the water.

Your session includes hire of a Paddleboard, wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet.

The minimum age allowed on the water is 5 years.

5 to 7 years old - Can be on a craft with a responsible adult aged 18+

8 to 13 years old - Can paddle own craft, whilst supervised by a responsible adult aged 18+ on the water

14 to 17 years old - Can paddle own craft with a responsible adult aged 18+ on site that is contactable in the case of an emergency

    Weather:

Safety is our number one priority. In the event of poor weather conditions (e.g. strong winds or thunder and lightning) or other incidents we reserve the right to restrict water access to particular user groups, restrict the area available for activities, cancel sessions or close the lake. We will endeavour to give advance notice whenever possible; however sometimes decisions need to be made at short notice. If we close the lake, we will add a message to our website and endeavour to contact all customers impacted to offer the opportunity to reschedule their session or receive a refund.

Lovely peaceful place to take the family. Will be back to try the water sports. Only frustration was the lack of menu choices at the restaurant with no children’s or fresh menu which could be locally sourced. Such a ...

Wow, a beautiful place to visit with the family. If you're into trekking, go past the bbq areas and past the gold course. There is a little treasure at the end which the kids will love.
