Stand Up Paddle Boarding Race Graiguenamanagh Sept 6th 2025
Saturday Sept 6th sees us host the final race of the Irish Winter SUP Race Series. The event will be in Graiguenamanagh, Co Kilkenny as it is the perfect venue for first time and Experienced racers!
The race is pre entry only, no entries will be accepted on thed day! Entries close on Thursday Sept 4th at 9pm
We will have something for everyone from experienced racer looking to push themselves to novice paddlers looking for a fun challange:
Race Classes & Distances:
The event is open to Male and Female, paddlers alike and is suitbale for first time racers and those wishing to give themselves a challenge. Juniors must be accompanied by a guardian for sign in on the day. Juniors aged 12-15 years old must be accompanied on the water by an adult. Juniors will race in the same class as seniors if their is not sufficent juniors to make a class.
Mens & Womens Race Boards, Classes
Distance Race 10km,
Race Boards are classed as any board over 12.1ft long Maximum length 14th
Mens & Womens All round boards, Classes
Distance Race 5km,
All Rounders are classed as 12ft and Under.
Racer sign in will open on the Day at 11am with Racer Briefing at 11.30am and the Distance Race starting at 12pm
Safety:
All racers must wear a leash and a PFD (Vest or Belt pfd).
All racers must carry a phone incase of emergency.
Racers/paddlers should have appropriate dress for the weather conditions and water temperature on the day.
All paddlers must have a board and paddle which are fit for purpose. All paddlers must bring their own boards, paddles and safety equipment, none will be supplied on the day.
Race Course
The Race course will be on the Barrow a beautiful section of River which will offer us excellent sheltered flat water for the entire race. The course will be 5km laps with 2 turns each lap. There is easy access for spectators, coaches, supporters to follow along either side (walking, running or on bike).
After the Distance race we will have a fun technical race that will be run in a 1 design format so everyone will be on the same boards (Inflatble SUPs which will suit every skill level). This will run in Heats that we will do a random draw for and everyone will get a couple of rounds. The course will be under 500m long with 6-8 turns (both left and right). This is just for fun and bragging rights. Everyone in the distance race will be entered in the tech.
