Description
IMPORTANT NOTE: WHEN MAKING YOUR BOOKING PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE NAMES OF EACH INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL BE PARTICIPATING Explore the natural beauty of the creeks and marshes at Burnham Overy Staithe in the company of family or friends using one of our double, sit-on, Ocean Kayaks from Burnham Overy Boathouse.
Because the Creek at Overy is tidal, we recommend that kayaking is best enjoyed in the period from two hours before to two hours after High Tide.
However, you can get hire a kayak at other points of the tide if you are prepared to pull it over shallows, which is why we offer a ten hour hire period - so that you have the flexibility to arrive and depart to suit your own schedule and preferences.
You may want to limit your activity to just three or four hours or you may wish to spend the whole day here with us. It's your choice.
Please note there is a weight rating on our single kayaks of 23 stone including dog and picnic.
Requirements
What to bring
For the warmer months we suggest that you bring swimwear or shorts, a hat or cap and a light top to prevent sunburn; for the cooler months a windproof spray top or a wetsuit. Footwear is advisable -wetsuit booties, water shoes or old trainers. A towel and a change of clothes is also a must.
If you have your own buoyancy aids please bring them - they must be worn at all times on or near the water. They are available for hire from the Boathouse if you do not have your own.
During the summer do remember to bring and use sun screen & something to drink - a bottle of water can be stored under the bungie straps in the kayak, where there is also room for a small dry-bag if you wish to take a picnic lunch with you.
If you need to wear glasses or sunglasses, we recommend you bring with you & use a floating retaining strap.
