    Description

    This progressive series will be for those who already dip or swim in the sea, and who can already swim 1km ( that’s 40 lengths of the swimming pool) comfortably but want to increase their swimming distance to 2km for an event or for swim fitness.

    Sessions are planned to assisst with increasing the distance swum each session over the series of swims. Typical Swims include a warm up, a short focus on technique, a swimming “set” to improve fitness /endurance/speed and ended with a swim down.

    Swim distance increases are best achieved by swimming 3 times weekly, so swimmers are encouraged to swim an additional twice a week in addition to this session to maximise their ability to achieve a final distance of 2km.

    The distances are approximate and are based on time swimming and speed.

    Requirements
    1. Swimmers must be able to swim 1kmmeters (40 lengths of a 25meter swimming pool) continuously and comfortably
    2. swimmers must have experience of swimming in the sea for 200meters.

    What to bring
    1. Wetsuits, googles, bright coloured swim hat and tow floats are essential. Non wetsuits swimmers must be confirmed before booking.
    2. Booties/wetsuit socks are not essential but advisable to protect feel from rocks, shells, weaver fish etc.
    3. Towel and / or changing robe
    4. Warm loose layered clothing including warm hat and socks for post swim warming up.
    5. Post swim snack and warm drink.
    6. Waterproof pouch for car keys/electronics
    7. Any medications that may be required pre/during/after swimming
    8. Consider carrying personal safety equipment such as a whistle (to attract attention) and a mobile phone (to call for assistance).


    Itinerary
    1. We will meet at the beach at the indicated location and time ready to swim . Keep warm until before entering water.
    2. There will be a safety brief at waters edge before entering the water
    3. Coaching session will focus on increasing time in the water and distance swum.
    4. Session will take place within swim area set by coach.
