If you can already swim 200meters comfortably, have already trained in open water or swum in at least one sea swim event and have an event this coming season, this is an essential session for you. Dive into the exhilarating world of sea swimming with our "2025 Tri Club - Intermediate ocean swim" sessions in the beautiful Goodrington Beach. Hosted by Devon Sea Swim Ltd, this 30-minute coached session, is designed to empower you with the sea swim skills and confidence needed to conquer your open water event safely and calmly.. Rhian, Torbay Tri Club Level 2 British Triathlon coach, experienced open water swimmer and coach, Swim England swim teacher, RLSS Beach Life Guard and RYA Yachtmaster/Coastal Skipper, will guide you through the essentials for intermediate sea swimmers: 1. fitting you wetsuit well around your shoulders. 2. entering the water at speed safely while acclimatising, 3. breathing to keep calm at the start and in crowded water, 4. sighting
as you build your experience to swim round the iconic Goodrington Beach Torbay Tri Club swim buoys with efficiency and with confidence.

Requirements
What to bring
- Wetsuits, googles, bright coloured swim hat and tow floats are essential. Non wetsuits swimmers must be confirmed before booking.
- Booties/wetsuit socks are not essential but advisable to protect feel from rocks, shells, weaver fish etc.
- Towel and / or changing robe
- Warm loose layered clothing including warm hat and socks for post swim warming up.
- Post swim snack and warm drink.
- Waterproof pouch for car keys/electronics
- Any medications that may be required pre/during/after swimming
- Consider carrying personal safety equipment such as a whistle (to attract attention) and a mobile phone (to call for assistance).
Itinerary
- Swimmers will be ready to enter the water at the start of session.
- Session begins with safety brief at waters edge
- Coaching session will focus on improving open water swimming confidence and safety.
- Session will take place within swim area set by coach.
- Sessions end at the waters edge.
- A public outside shower is available by toilets to wash off sea water for safety and hygiene.
