RYA Stage 4

Description

The RYA Stage 4 Course is part of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme providing an enjoyable and progressive way to learn to sail.


Stage 4: Learn to sail a double-handed boat as crew or helm, applying all the skills you have learnt up to and including Stage 3, as well as gaining a variety of exciting new skills.


  1. Rigging and Launching
  2. Ropework
  3. Sailing techniques & manoeuvres
  4. Sailing background knowledge


This course is for those looking to transfer all pre-learnt skills, techniques and manoeuvres into crewed boats. Boats used will be Fevas, possibly Lasers and Wayfarers . All equipment is provided, including a wetsuit and buoyancy aid.


This is a 5-day course, 6 hours a day, and you'll receive an RYA Stage 4 certificate on successful completion.

What to bring

  1. Old Trainers or Wetsuit boots (if you have them).
  2. Towel
  3. Swimwear for underneath the wetsuit
  4. Sun Cream, Peaked Cap if hot
  5. Woolly Hat if cold
  6. Water Bottle
  7. Packed Lunch (or card/cash for the onsite cafe)

Itinerary

  1. Transferring pre-learnt skills, techniques and manoeuvres to sail crewed boats
  2. Enhance rigging, launching and recovery
  3. Practical skills to recover a man overboard
