Description
Join Us for a Night Paddle on Salford Quays!
Every Thursday evening, we take to the water under the city lights for a paddle around the inner basins of Salford Quays. Wear your neon, bring your glow sticks, and enjoy the unique experience of paddling at night—it’s truly a spectacular sight!
Craft Options: Our Katakanus and Rafted Canoes offer a stable and social paddling experience. Participants typically stay dry, making it a great option for those who want a comfortable and relaxing evening on the water (weather permitting, of course!).
- Capacity: Each Katakanu or Rafted Canoe seats up to 6 people and is suitable for all skill levels, including beginners.
- Age Requirement: Minimum age is 8. Anyone under 17 must be accompanied by a paying adult on the water.
- Bookings: You may need to share a boat with others unless you book all 6 spaces.
Safety Notes: Our Katakanus and Rafted Canoes are stable and designed to keep participants dry. While the likelihood of capsizing is minimal, in the unlikely event of an incident, rest assured that our team is prepared and trained to assist. Please follow all instructions and only enter the slipway or pontoons when advised.
We look forward to sharing this unique night paddle experience with you and can’t wait to welcome you aboard!
Requirements
What to bring
- Provided Equipment: We supply buoyancy aids (mandatory) and helmets for those under 17.
- Clothing: Wear waterproof clothing in case of rain, and dress warmly with layers, hats, and gloves. Shoes that can get damp are recommended, as some water may collect in the boat if it rains.
- Essentials: Bring a £1 coin if you’d like to store valuables in our lockers. If you wear glasses, consider using a strap to secure them. Feel free to bring glow sticks, lights, or head torches to enhance the night paddle experience!
- Valuables: We recommend leaving valuables onshore. If you bring a phone for pictures, please use a waterproof pouch or lanyard. Our team will take photos, but we are not liable for lost or damaged items.
Itinerary
Arrival Instructions:
- Check-in: Arrive 15 minutes early to check in, receive your buoyancy aid, and get ready. Due to our focus on safety, late arrivals may not be able to join.
- Changing Facilities: Changing rooms and toilets are available in the foyer. Remember to bring a £1 coin if you need to store belongings in a locker.
Session Guidelines:
- Orientation: After gearing up, we’ll move to the water where you’ll receive a quick paddle briefing. Please avoid the slipway until directed, as it can be slippery.
- Paddling Experience: This session is designed for a relaxed and social paddle. We’ll stay together as a group and take in the beautiful sights as we circle the docks. Remain in your assigned seat, and please stay seated unless otherwise directed by staff.
- Respectful Behaviour: We ask everyone to be considerate and respectful to others. Any disruptive behaviour will result in removal without a refund.
- End of Session: At the end of the paddle, wait for instructions to safely exit the boat, then return your buoyancy aid to the centre. Changing rooms and warm showers are available after the session.
