Description
This course provides you with the minimum recognised standard qualification for those undertaking surf coaching and instruction activities.
It is giving the necessary skills and knowledge to provide rescue response and life support in order to demonstrate a level of competence for the safety of participants under instruction.

Price includes : lifeguard and first aid manuals, examination fees, access to the Coast to Coast online learning platform.
Minimum age : 16 yrs
Validity: 24 months from assessment, then 12 month annual proficiency (as long as validity has not lapsed)
Pre-requisites :
-You need to be able to complete the fitness test:
1/100m run / 100m swim / 100m run
2/200m timed swim in under 5 minutes in a pool or 5min30 in the sea

AUTUMN 2024 COURSE SCHEDULE
ONLINE
Online session on Wednesday 23rd October at 7pm to open the course, cover some of the theory and get you started to prepare the course.
PRACTICAL
When:
- Wednesday30th October, 8:30am-5:30pm
- Thursday 31st October, 8:30am-5:30pm
- Friday 1st November, 8:30am-5:30pm
Where:
The course is taking place at the following locations:
Challaborough beach (TQ7 4HU) for the beach and water work
Churchstow village hall (TQ7 3RD) for the theory and first aid
Refund/Cancellation
Unfortunately, we can not give you a refund - we can transfer you to another course on the same year occurring a £50 admin fee.

Itinerary
Award aims: applicable to those undertaking surf coaching and instruction activity and for surfboard hiring organisations. It aims to establish a minimum vocational standard that demonstrates a level of competence for the safety of participants under instruction during a coached surf activity session undertaken in primarily wading depth water and to establish the necessary skills and knowledge to provide basic rescue response and life support.
Training and assessment process: Trained and assessed throughout the course by a SLSGB trainer assessor.
