Discover Sailing on the Estuary at Arnside
Description
Update - Because of a forecast of strong winds on Monday 26th May, the Event will be a Boat Park Open Day rather than opportunity to Try Sailing.
Activities on offer will include
- An opportunity to look round our boat park and find out what the club has to offer
- A chance to learn how to rig a boat putting up and taking down sails
- Land drills where you will learn how to steer a boat, where to sit and how to tack (turn round).
- An opportunity for children to dress up as sailors putting on buoyancy aids and helmets
- Learn about different types of knots and what they are used for.
Discover Sailing. Try Out Sailing at Arnside and see the village from the water. We will be taking people out across the estuary for sailing tasters at high tide from the slipway by the Albion. The event, which is free is suitable for families, children and adults.
Please pick an arrival time slot and on the day we will aim to get you on the water as soon as we can. Exact timing will vary due to tides, weather and boat availability.
Our clubhouse and bar in the Old Customs House overlooking the estuary will be open for refreshments and to give you and your family a chance to look inside.
Club Membership 2025 £80 individual, £90 family, £25 Low income, student under 24
