Middle Derwent River Paddleboard Trip

A guided paddle board river trip to the Middle Derwent. A relatively easy river trip with some small rapids to run. Although not for beginners, paddleboards need to be able to self rescue and move about on a board.

Trip begins on Derwent Water and then heads along the river towards Bassenthwaite. It is likely we will get out before getting to Bassenthwaite, where a short walk will lead us to the vehicles.

Available to ASC members only.

Final details re meeting point etc will be confirmed nearer the time and the trip will only run if the conditions are suitable, so may be cancelled with limited notice.

Must be a member of the sailing club to join this session.

Previous experience paddling a paddleboard.

Usual paddling kit

Drink/ snacks

Spare fleece & jacket in case of getting cold/ weather turns bad

Please wear footwear due to the hazards of rocks in the river.

If using your own board/ kayak please send in a copy of insurance for your craft (to meet the club's insurance needs)

This trip will require a helmet, please advise if you need to borrow one.

After meeting we will travel in a small convoy to Keswick in a couple of cars. After preparing boards ,the vehicles will do the shuttle so that we can get back at the end. The group will launch into Derwent Water, then paddle up the Middle Derwent exiting just before Bassenthwaite.
