Help us create new habitats for the array of wildlife at Glyn's Garden!
Description
Join us this summer at our young people's free sessions at Glyn's Garden, where we will pick up tools and get hands on using natural and recycled materials to create new wildlife habitats for the array of flying and creeping friends found on site.
Sessions are as so:
Fri 8th August: Building a Bug Hotel - we will use the lcoally donated resources to create a luxorious pallet bug hotel, exploring the different materials and spaces that different invertebrates need to thrive and survive. This activity will include some basic tool use, too, such as sawing and drilling. If there is time, the children will also make their own mini masonry bee homes to take home.
Thurs 14th August: Create an Amphibian Hibernaculum - this session will include building a second hibernaculum on site for the different amphibians currently found on site at Glyn's Garden to promote increasing their populations. The session will also teach about the different amphibians found within the UK, identification skills and general wildlife knowledge.
Fri 15th August: Bird Box Building - join us in putting together the carefully prepared bird boxes from flat-pack into usable homes for our feathered friends! We will learn about the different bird species that visit the gardens and where best to erect our newly built boxes.
Sessions aimed at 8-13 years.
Glyn’s Garden is a community interest company supporting mental and physical health through therapeutic gardening. This will be their first sessions welcoming young people onto site, and we look forward to welcoming their company and enthusiasm into the project!
