Description
‘SUP Race Training’ is a meet up for like-minded paddleboarders who want to train together for fitness and/or in preparation for races (for example the GBSUP calendar).
In winter (Oct – March) training is on a Saturday morning 9.30- 11.30 approx. In summer (April-Sept) training sessions are on a Tuesday at 6-8pm approx.
Sessions are non-coached with paddlers responsible for themselves at all times on the water. The nature of the session is decided by the group on the day, and is typically long distance in the winter, building up to higher level efforts in spring and summer.
Participants do not need to be top level racers, but should have a good level of paddling competency, know how to paddle safely in all conditions and be able to self-rescue.
Paddling is done at your own pace, so be aware you may be solo paddling and will need appropriate safety and competency for doing so.
Suitable equipment for the session include race boards or fast touring boards and participants are expected to bring all of their own equipment. Quick release waist leashes are recommended.
The minimum age for this activity is 18 years+
If you would like to discuss session format and whether is right for you, please reach out via their Facebook group here - ‘Cardiff Bay SUP and OC Racers’
