Emergency First Aid

Course Content Includes:

Recovery Position (Spinal Considerations)

Learn when and how to safely place an unconscious casualty into the recovery position while maintaining spinal alignment and minimising further injury.

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

Understand how to recognise cardiac arrest and perform effective chest compressions and rescue breaths to maintain circulation and oxygen flow until help arrives.

AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

Learn how to safely operate an AED, follow its prompts, and deliver life-saving defibrillation in cases of cardiac arrest.

Secondary Survey

Develop the ability to carry out a structured head-to-toe assessment to identify injuries or medical issues after immediate life-threatening conditions have been addressed.

Choking

Learn how to recognise the signs of choking and apply the correct techniques to safely clear an airway obstruction.

Bleeding

Understand how to manage bleeding using direct pressure, dressings, and other techniques to control blood loss and reduce the risk of shock.

Shock

Recognise the signs and symptoms of shock and learn how to manage and support a casualty until professional medical help arrives.

This course meets the HSE regulations and is valid for 3 years.
